Console

September 29, 2006

I was helping out in The Basement with the X-Box time-trial today.  Whew, some of them can drive the cars pretty fast.  Lots of fun anyhow.

Remix

September 27, 2006

My remix of Peter Gabriel’s Shock the Monkey has been entered into the competition and is getting some nice feedback.  (www.realworldremixed.com and search for artist venus vulture).  It’s been listened to 106 times so far, so that’s a nice feel.  It was great to work on remixing the piece – getting me out of what I’m normally up to and making something unique.  I think I’ll have another go at Bing Turkby’s Wanganui and see if I can mess that up a bit too.

Updating

September 26, 2006

Someone pointed out to me that with the infrequency of putting in new posts, it might be nice to get an email notification – I’ll have to look into that - a quick scan makes it seem that WordPress isn’t quite set up for it.

I’ve been listening a lot to Taylor Deupree’s album Northern lately – very soothing and engaging – www.12k.com.

Photos of the library

September 19, 2006

There are a bunch of great photos of the library on display in the library – all by Bernadette Peters Photography – fantastic the way she has focused on small details to highlight features

Greg Johnson

September 15, 2006

The new Greg Johnson CD – Anyone can say goodbye – it a nice listen.  Good to Greg doing well for himself.  He’s based in LA now, apparently.

Lady in the water

September 11, 2006

We went to see this and I kind of enjoyed it – it’s a fable with the occasional scare.  In some ways it’s very simply told, but for the most part it was engaging and intriguing.  Hopefully M. Night’s next film will have a bit more of an edge.

Peter Gabriel

September 8, 2006

Discovered that Peter is running a competition to remix his 80s track Shock the Monkey – along the lines of Taylor Deupree & Kenneth Kirshners’ Post_Piano open remix project – except that the Monkey download contains separated track (vocals, guitar, etc.).  So I’ve been busy pottering around with that – might have an interesting mix to enter into the competition next week.

Blog posts

September 5, 2006

Well, it turns out that I’m not that regular at writing posts here.  Started out with a post everyday and have slowed down quite a lot since then.  Oh well.  I listened to the new Jimmy Barnes CD Double Happiness – pretty straightforward Jimmy stuff – working Oz rock.

Beach boys and Tricky

September 1, 2006

I listened to the Beach Boys and Tricky today while on desk – what a great mix.
